The F3B is a USA non-profit organization. The name of the organization is based on its founders, three teenagers from Central Jersey, who were invited to Africa to teach basketball to their African counterparts 10 years ago. The program was a huge success. Every year since then, the girls have expanded this global community service project into 10 other African Countries. The girls programme helps increase communication, cooperation, cultural awareness and basketball skills for participating American and African teenage girls. All participants gain immeasurable insights and life skills that promote and support multiculturalism, as well as new friendships that can last a lifetime. Each program is approximately 60 hours in duration, with 40 hours of basketball instruction and 20 hours of professional development focused on leadership skills, cultural communication and HIV/AIDS awareness and wireless technology. Three young women did, in fact, lead that first trip to Ivory Coast, and Three Female Ballers (F3B) were born. Since 1999, F3B has conducted summer camps in countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Morocco, Niger, Botswana, Tanzania, Liberia, Benin, Rwanda, Namibia and Mozambique. In 2013, the FB3 we would like to include Malawi in their agenda and thus the reason for this letter. One of the representatative Mr Jo Wilson, a Malawian living in the states worked with CEZOBAL to Select students. A number of names were sent but only few were selected according to their own criteria. Registration will begin at 12noon. It is expected that the Malawian girls will make their own way to the school. 2. attend camp from Aug 4th– Aug 9th, 2013. Camp is intense and involves basketball training including in-class instructions that will cover our 5 modules. There will be a written test for each module. The F3B core team will be observing the participants and will feed into the selection process. 3. to reside at Lilongwe Girls Secondary School during this time. This will help forge relationships with their American counterparts and increase cross-cultural exchanges. Beddings are not provided. 4. eat what they are provided. Same rule applies to American girls. If they are dietary restrictions, let us know immediately. 5. obey all camp rules and curfews. Disciplinary actions will be enforced and can result in participant being thrown out of camp. La CEZOBAL Family is therefore invited to the official opening of this on Sunday 4th Aug.
