I work in a shop that's got PCs and Macs, and I really don't think too much
of the Mac at this point. From a web development perspective, Mac users
aren't use to a lot of the things that the web is going to expect (No, you
can't use a / in a filename!) and the tools that are available on the Mac...
well, they could be a LOT better. If you try and get into dynamic sites,
You're going to be out of luck in the database department because most
things are developed on the PC.
Are the Macs more stable? Not really, but I don't know how much of that
comes from users who don't know what they are doing, crappy software, bad
OS, or a mix of all of those things.
I do think they still have a little bit of an edge in the print field, which
is our primary use for them. I think my negative assessment may be due to
the fact we just dropped 1,500 on a 400 mhz machine that's not terribly
impressive, and then another 1,500 to put 512 megs of ram in the same
machine!
