We really should have both. You know, just in case.
Because of the size constraints on resumes, people can't get a clear idea
of how competent you are from one. They can tell how much experience you
have but they can't tell how much you've learned form that experience. CV's
are to show your level of competence. In academia you would list things
like your publications with a brief description and your contribution on a
CV. By that logic, you or I would list published sites with a brief
description of methods and our contribution.
It's really a useful document but it takes so long to write that I haven't
gotten around to it.
