A private funeral for Joey
Ramone, who became a
punk icon as lead singer
for the Ramones, will be
held today (April 17) at
Schwartz Brothers
Memorial Chapel in the
Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, New York,
where he grew up. Ramone (born Jeffrey
Hyman) died of lymphatic cancer Sunday in New
York at 49. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in
the mid-'90s and was hospitalized last month.
