The long version:
I had an early bad experience with it and am too stubborn to try it again. I
hate spam. With a passion. And, knock on wood, I to this day, do not receive
any for some reason. All my email is stuff I've optioned into at one point
or another. The day I signed up for ICQ (this was with a different address a
long time ago, which I have since cancelled) I started getting all sorts of
spam, the majority of which was x-rated.
Now, I am not a prude, but I don't have time for any of that crap and for it
to be forced down my throat (no pun intended) was too much. I mean, every
time I signed onto ICQ, I would have these sex messages waiting for me! ....
the was the end. Uninstall. Delete. Cancelled email. Goodbye.
I've never had that problem with MSN, Yahoo or AIM.
Maybe ICQ has changed these days, but I don't think I really need it.
Especially not if this Trillian program continues to interact with AIM/ICQ
and the others. The I will be able to IM my ICQ friends!
By the way, nice quote Todd! :)

Why don't you do ICQ?

Life .. Along the way, you will lose some friends and you will gain some.
They will all grow and they will all change. Sometimes the change is
painful, because their ways are not your ways .. but it's the joy they all
bring in the midst of that change that makes life itself .. so worth living
