US NAVY EP-3 DOWNS CHINESE FIGHTER
In a heroic low speed dogfight over international waters off the mainland
China coast, A 60's era American built Lockheed Electra propeller Airliner
with 24 US Navy passenger/observers aboard chewed up one of China's best
state-of-the-art supersonic fighter aircraft.
The Chinese pilot was identified as Lt.Wong Wei (Corrigan). The Americans,
utilizing the infrequently seen combat tactic of straight and level flight,
combined with a special low and slow technique (often accomplished by
relying solely on autopilot), engaged and defeated the top-of-the line
Chinese fighter jet, knocking it out of the air using only one of it's four
formidable rotating propellers. After the action the crew and
passenger/observers dropped in on
China's Hainan Island Resort, for some much deserved R&R as guests of the
Chinese government.
High level United States Navy sources have indicated that the pilot of the
agile P-3 aircraft was being reassigned to the Navy's elite Fighter Weapons
school as a tactical expert instructor. The Navy is also considering
retrofitting the F-14, F-18, and other tactical aircraft with a similar
lethal propellor type device. Chinese officials in Beijing would not comment
on rumors of the disappearance of chief Hainan air traffic controller Wer Yu
Goh.
