Sybase and CF? :)
You must recall..that I live in this tiny sunny island of Trinidad not in
the US or some other large heavily developed country.
Thus, the local companies I deal with usually want very modest solutions.
However..I know that this particular company seems to want to take this app
global when I get it modified..so definitely we will be looking to host
internationally in the future. How soon..I couldn't say.
They're supposed to get back to me in two weeks after they test what they
currently have.
If the host does Sybase and CF..then that would be absolutely ideal since I
was worried about that, where the heck in the States we were going to host
the thing.
Thanks for the advice with the SQL Anywhere Service as opposed to the
standalone DB Engine..when next I head back there I will send you an email
asking more about it.

>From our experience with Sybase, I would strongly recommend using the SQL
Anywhere Service. It is about 50 times faster and much less resource
intensive than the stand alone. The stand alone will give you major
headaches once your site gets more than a few visitors hitting it at a time.
We actually had to teach iCat (remember them?) how to optimize their SQL
Anywhere database services. Let me know if you need a hosting provider that
knows how to implement Sybase.
