Todd,
Southwestern VA? Off 460 near Mountain Lake? Cool. One of the loveliest
areas around. I lived for several years in Blacksburg VA and in Roanoke VA
(that's where I got my Masters degree). Lovely area. Some of the best hiking
and camping in this part of the country.
I can sympathize about the mountains - its fairly flat here in Manassas.
Every so often I get mountain withdrawal so I end up going on a short
hiking/camping trip up into the Blue Ridge.

Me, me!! I grew up in Southewestern Virginia at the foot of the appliachian
mountains (15 miles from where they filmed most of Dirty Dancing ;). I
moved to Charlotte, NC a few years back and there aren't any mountains :(
Actually, I've been thinking about taking a long weekend soon to get some
camping somewhere before it gets too dang hot.
