Yes. Still here. Major improvement. Sanity has returned. There is much
reliefness.
I actually sent out a message earlier that would explain my silence but I
haven't seen it go through yet. My mail tends to get lost in pacbell's SMTP
server so I can't even say for sure if the message was received by the HoF
servers. Posted it to two different HoF lists and didn't get it from
either. Oh well, if they don't go through, I'll find out in a day or so and
resend.
I sent out my official "Give me a job" announcement, but I still think I
should put my "Give me a job!" .sig back up. It took me a while to write
the new job post and with the amount of concentration that I had yesterday,
I feel like I owe work a few hours. I mean, I worked all of the hours that
I was supposed to work but I wasn't as effective as usual for those hours.
So I cut back on email time today. I've got to get more billables in by the
end of the week. I can't bill for all of those hours. It's not the client's
fault that I was having the worst day I've had in about 6 years.
And instead of preparing for tomorrow's CFUG meeting/Jennifer Job Hunt, I
played poker. I won about $10 but I still need fabulous code samples by
tomorrow afternoon. I'll probably be pretty quiet tomorrow too. No work
email time and no personal email time tomorrow. I won all but the first
hand (and they claim I won that one too). In a round of 7-card stud with
sixes wild, I got 6 kings-- four natural and two wild. After about 8 hands
they started looking at my face-up cards and saying "Jennifer's got two
cards up, one's wild and the other is a jack. I fold. We all know she's
gonna win. She's probably got all jacks in her face-down cards." Either
they stacked the deck to make themselves lose money or I've been infected
with the luck virus.
But I guess that after the weekend I had, I deserve to be infected with the
luck virus. With any luck, I've been infected with the "You want to hire
me" virus and this looking for a new job thing can go away quickly. I hate
looking for a job. I'm just glad that my current boss loves me and I don't
have to look for a job with no source of income.
In the meantime, code samples, replying to responses to my ad (which has
been posted elsewhere with some success), reconnaissance on my
interviewers, and work. I'll probably be quiet until Friday.
