I saw Moulin Rouge Friday night. Freaking brilliant. I even stayed through
the entire credits.
Like requiem for a Dream, it was structured similar to a symphony, more
than any musical I've ever seen before. (Requiem for a Dream wasn't
technically a musical but does have a nice soundtrack.) It had a patter
song. No you don't understand. It had a patter song. I tried to do my term
paper on patter songs in high school but my teacher insisted that they
didn't exist.
The score was brilliant. It was truly amazing. If someone had told me that
I love a movie that revamped pop love songs as a plot point, I would laugh
and laugh and laugh. Freaking brilliant.
