know what else they have sung, but I don't like Fantasia's voice, it has
some property that annoys me. There is a flat tone that comes across.
The other girl I thought did a fine job, neither of them really impressed
me, of course this is true for all of the American Idol winners and
finalists.
But this show is just about singing talent, these are all songs that I have
heard before by different people, who have done them much better in their
day, and I guess I am comparing these people to the original artist, and to
me, a cover is almost never better than the original.

I agree. I forgot to mention that Fantasia has those excellent original
arrangements, whereas Diana is mostly cloning the original tunes. That is a
risk on Fantasia's part and she pulls it off, so she deserves added credit
for that. Normally I click away from that show, but Fantasia is quite
enjoyable to watch.

Well - Mary and I watched a few minutes of the show last night. We thought
that Fantasia has an amazing stage presence. And my feeling is that while
Diana has an very good voice, she comes across as kind of desperate. Hope
that doesn't sound too harsh....
