It definitely is the color of his (or anyone else's skin). I do, however,
agree that many people use the race card too often. But if you believe for
even a minute that a man (or woman) of African-American descent can win the
office of president, you are deluding yourself. There is still way to much
racism in this country. It is all around us, if we but open our eyes.
President Reagan's administration played off it with the "welfare queens"
statements and attacks on welfare.

No, the reason Bush stacked his cabinet with people of color was to get the
votes he needed from that sector of our population and keep them later. For
the most part they are yes people. Powell is actually a stabilizing and
calming force in the administration. He is even at odds with it. If not for
his overwhelming popularity with the people right now, he might have been
out. He is too moderate.

I will also say that Bush is getting better at reading the teleprompter. His
speech writers need to work though. At least when he reads the teleprompter,
he does not invent new words along the way. Hispanically speaking, that is.
As for the adlib at the WTC site, well, how hard can it be to shake some
hands and say "We hear you". I mean, isn't the President supposed to be
like, well, the cream of the crop. You know, a world leader. In Canada, he
could not even remember the names of the other world leaders.

BTW -

With the troubled economy, why haven't we heard more about picking where we
invest our SS money? That was hot news before the downturn. Any of you loose
any money in the stock market?

Why has drilling in the arctic wild-life refuge gotten much quieter? I bet
that irked Cheney and his confederates who wanted make some bucks off that.
Would not have helped most Americans much, but that was never the plan
anyway.
