Okay, so there are exceptions. :) Though the general thinking imo is
still sound. I seriously doubt that modern skin-heads actually believe
Odin is a real person or that their proclaiming the name has anything
to do with their motivation for killing. It's not that they're
realling "killing in Odin's" name per se, but rather that they're
ignorant evil people and they enjoy inflicting pain on others and
calling Odin's name is a fun thing to do while they happen to be there
in the moment. It's not a declaration of war like the Crusades.

Odin was probably a poor example -- I was just searching for a name
and that happened to pop into my head. I could have said Athena or
Demeter or Vulcan. But by and large people don't kill in the name of
characters they believe to be fictional. I think the crusades and the
inquisition in particular would have been difficult to justify in the
name of a widely-believed-to-be fictional character.
