Naturalized Florida citizens given GOP-marked voter cards
ELECTION OFFICIALS kept "a close eye" on the naturalization of more than 200 new U.S. citizens in Jacksonville, Fla., over the weekend after a previous group were given voter registration cards already marked "Republican" as their party af.liation. According to a TV news report, dozens of new citizens were given the marked voter registration cards outside the University of North Florida's auditorium June 29. Saliha Alomerovic, a Bosnian native naturalized that day, was given a "tampered form" by an unidenti.ed woman, First Coast News reported. "She tried to help me .ll it out, it was already marked, but I said, 'No, I can do it myself,'" Alomerovic said. The Duval County Supervisor of Elections Of.ce said the FBI and state attorney's of.ce investigated the matter, but the SEO said although unethical, the activity is not illegal. METRO
