Before you start worrying about specs, you need to define what you
want out of a camera. Are you more interested in a full featured
camera to take professional looking photos or are you just looking for
something to have around to take snapshot memories?

Will you want to carry it around all the time or just have around on occasion?

Are these for just posting to a web site for fun or are they going to
be printed? If you want to print them, how big do you want? Just 5x7
or 20x30 posters?

Details like SD vs CF for the storage are pretty much only important
if you're trying to match it to another device like a handheld, or if
you're really taking a lot of photos and need a little edge on speed
and size (CF still wins for that from what I've last checked).
