A fort where there was no concept of liberty as the people were under an
automatic military dictatorship. The analogy here is very interesting. There
are those who are advocating the fort mentality. Lose liberties for
security.

Unlike today most of the people around the mid 18th century were
rural. What we consider cities today, with a few exceptions, were the
local forts where the locals would hold up until relieved.
