Thanks. I feel proud as well. However, we still have progress to be made: 1. First, the total number of voters was still too low. We should be 80%+ IMHO 2. The level of education of the average voter seems to still be lower then it should be. We need to find better ways to get better information on candidates positions and records to the masses (not everyone has access to the great exchange on this list!) 3. We need an active, vibrant, meaningful 3rd party to add a check and balance to the two parties that exist today
Andy -----Original Message----- From: Jochem van Dieten I have no idea if the counts of the normal ballots, the provisional ballots and the absentee ballots have been finished. But I am very impressed with the voters. Long lines out onto the street even before opening hours is an impressive accomplishment for any democracy nowadays. The enthousiasm people are showing to vote is something that reminds me of the first elections in South Africa where black people were allowed to vote. It is amazing how, despite all the procedural fuckups and the legal bullshit, the voters have succeeded in making this election a shining example for everyone around the world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| The annual ColdFusion User Conference is being held Sat 6/26 - Sun 6/27/04 8am-5pm in the Washington DC Area. http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=44 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:133856 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
