I have used both methods and I recommend putting your hand in your pocket,
although I am usually a big fan of free software there is nothing out there
that does the job in one step and the potential for burning coasters is
high. Have a look at Cucusoft lite at http://www.avi-vcd.com/, it's only $19
and was a dream to use after battling with TMPGEnc and the like.
