Well, I guess i'll point out the obvious and say the primary difference involves passively watching a factual account of an occurrence, versus taking an active part in the recreation of the occurrence, ultimately affecting its outcome for entertainment.
Ray posted the news item about the mom who cut the arms off her baby. You sit and watch a news item on that bit, maybe you say to yourself "I can't believe someone could do that". Wouldn't you say that is quite a bit different than playing a video game where you play the role of the mom, and recreate her act? Aren't you basically saying "Ok, now I want to pretend that I'm doing that". I see a big difference here. > > But again - accepting the outrage completely - what makes this any worse that any of the dozens of news recreations or >the Oliver Stone film? Why is this getting negative press from every corner but they did not? > > Why is it okay to have Tom Brokaw show a computer simulation to millions but not place that simulation in the hands of >the public? > > The only questionable aspect I see, soley when compared to others, is that their is a cash prize. Yes, the game is being >sold for profit, but it's easily argued that the Stone film as well as the news recreations were also done as profit centers. > > Jim Davis > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Special thanks to the CF Community Suite Gold Sponsor - CFHosting.net http://www.cfhosting.net Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:137658 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
