Not all other intervals are major - only the intervals seen in a major
scale.  However, the "perfect" 4th and 5th come from the idea that those two
intervals are the most harmonious intervals in the common scale.  Though
both major and minor 3rds are considered harmonious, they are not as clearly
harmonious as a 4th or 5th.
