That is something you'll run into called REN (ringer equivalent
number) and is a limitation of the DTA.

In my case I simply made a jumper from the DTA to raw wire and hooked
it into my punch-down field here in the office.  You could do the same
thing at home, running the DTA directly into your home's phone wiring.

For what it's worth I believe the typical residential system only has
a REN of 4 or so.
