To make any combination with a "b" use the "h" equivalent then put a quote mark 
over it.  That changes it from an "h" to a "b" so "ha" becomes "ba" a small 
circle over the "ha" makes it a "pa"

ha - ba - pa
he - be - pe 

etc...

I used to speak it fairly well on the level of where is the train
station and how are you doing today :) Which is totally different from
being able to write it, lol :) I learned maybe 50 kanji.
