There is a huge difference between prejudice and racism. Furthermore, it is very insensitive. If you told a minority student that he was accepted due to Affirmative Action - you are merely lacking tact. Affirmative Action is a policy or program the University subscribes too. He got in because of the program. If you told him he got in due to Racism then you are in fact insulting him and accusing him of doing something wrong. The central point is that a group in power is excluding another group. In the case of racism the qualifying factor is race. To write, AA is racism is categorically incorrect.
