Just throwing out an idea. What do you want the web service to do. Consider what you want the web site to do and use that as a starting point.
The company I work for is a biological resource repository. In other words we store and sell bacteria, virii, fungi, yeast, clones, cell lines, stem cells etc. I recently proposed using a web service for our foreign distributors to show and display our products. Basically they would pass along the catalog number and a specific identifier (so we could keep track of them) and would have returned an xml packet containing all the detail information.
