To get an unlocked IIS?  ;^)  Some people do like hosting multiple sites
using IIS.

But seriously - the server does offer a lot that XP doesn't - especially
Windows 2003.

Also most MS "server" software won't install on XP (although it could run on
it if allowed).  SQL Server, Exchange, etc all require a Server OS to run.

I don't believe that the OS is locked however since I've got applications
right now that open many more than 10 network threads (both in and out) - so
I think it's an application-level thing.
