Look, if gunmen took a hostage gunmen took a hostage. The schools
getting built might perhaps be news, but it's not breaking front-page
news. It might have its place in a longer piece about the effect of
troops there or on what it is like to be a soldiee in Iraq doing these
things, and I have seen thse stories too.

But to address the issue of whether the press should challenge the
government, of course it should. Isn't that why the call it the fourth
estate? It's supposed to be one of the checks and balances and it no
longer is.
