I actually love the new MSN 7. 

It adds a lot of neat, if gimmicky, features that make conversing online much 
more fun. 
I've come to accept the ads etc. as the price of using software for free, much 
like the Ads that are found in PLUM for example. I think there are IM clients 
that are made specifically for business communications and include features 
such as encrypted conversations etc. MSN Messenger certainly was not aimed at 
Business users, though several people use it for both roles, casual chat as 
well as business. 

I use both ICQ5 and MSN Messenger, and I have to say that once again MSN 7 has 
leapfrogged ICQ, just when they had caught up to MSN 6. :)
