Because of 911? I've been to Altun Ha and another one of the temples as boat trips from Ambergris but that's about it. I love Ambergris! Sleepy walks to San Pedro, reef fishing, book in a hammock, exploring in a golf cart, and good food. We always stay at Caribbean Villas which used to owned by an American Dentist and missionary couple, Wil and Susan Lala, but they recently sold it. My brother was just there and said it wasn't much different so that's a good sign so far. We always go snorkeling with Alphonse (the sharks know his boat and come right up!) and fishing with Savaro, but my brother has been going with Savaro's brother lately and likes it better. One of my favorite things is to go bumming around snorkeling and reef fishing with Savaro and then take your fresh yellow-tails and grouper to a one palm tree island, start a camp fire with coconut shells, and grill up the day's catch for lunch. Awesome! If you go before March you can dive for lobsters and have a private island lobster bar-b-que.
