I think Hybrids and Fuel Efficient cars are still in "early adopter"
mode.  Early adopters are willing to put up with a little
inconvenience to play with the new technology.  You may not be one,
and there are certainly others on the list who are not.

I don't really see it as a "flaw", I think it's just new technology,
and some people think it's cool no matter what and want one. Others,
not so much.  Eventually the technology will improve and it will meet
the needs of a larger and larger group.
