Two years ago, we leased a Chrysler. It's costing us around $525/month
not including insurance and plates. Finances were great back then and
the payment was not an issue. Since then, we have had some financial
hardship (basically a university salary and braces for the kid) and
Chrysler won't lift a finger to help us out of the lease.

In fact, this car payment is the only liability that is causing our
hardship right now. We are half-tempted to just let them repossess the
car just to get out of the damn payments. Chrysler said we could
lease/buy a less-expensive vehicle, but we would still be paying close
to the same amount. In addition, someone would be driving the 300 and
us still sort of paying on it.

Does anyone have any suggestions/experiences with letting the lendor
repossess a vehicle or getting out of a lease such as this? I'm fully
aware that we will get a black mark on our credit, but that's not a very
big issue to us right now. I would rather have the black mark now than
the huge monthly payment for that car until December 2006.

Thanks
M!ke
