There was a nice dual event at the Coolidge Corner Theater yesterday. First
he signed his book ("How to Make Love the Bruce Cambell Way") and then did a
reading and Q/A. Then, later, he did another Q/A and introduced his new
newest film (written, directed and starring by him) "The Man with the
Screaming Brain".
The movie was shot in Bulgaria (cuz' its insanely cheap) and was altogether
"Bruce". It was bad - don't get me wrong, but in that Bruce kind of way.
;^) It starred Bruce, Stacey Keach, Ted Raimi and a shitload of bulgarians.
The Q/A was a complete riot. So (possibly misquoted) highlights:
Q: "Can still do the 'pull yourself over by the collar flip'?"
A: "Yes..." >the audience begs for it< "... and if I were your monkey I
might."
Q: "What's you're favorite band?"
A: "Damn, people in the back row are morons."
Q: "If you hate remakes so much why are you remaking 'Evil Dead'?"
A: "Because I have a son in college."
Q: "What's you advice to aspiring horror film makers?"
A: "Don't aspire to horror films, they'll find you soon enough."
All told he spoke for perhaps a 1/2 hour.
A really great evening. The comic adaptation of the film (which looks
better than the movie) is out now from Dark Horse. ;^)
