The question is, what type of subway maps did they have. The normal train maps are useful in and of themselves, but there are maps (and books) that have details about the NY subway system that are VERY dangerous. A friend of mine published one such book a while back and it was either banned or bought up entirely by the city (I have to find out exactly). I happen to have a copy and let me tell you, it details every train yard, every abandoned station (some really nice ones), every track and every piece of info about the train system as it stood about 5 years back. If they had something like that, then it's far from a 'standard' map and very suspicious.
