A lot of it is the atmosphere, we'll usually tour the cellars and you learn
something about the history of the winery. The vintners are *usually* a lot of
fun, although some can be snooty. It's a fun time especially if you can fit a
few in per day. Most wineries have events, one of our favorites, Horton Winery
does a Mardi Gras Festival every year.

We'll usually hit a max of four in a day, it's easy to do in Northern Virginia.

what is there to do at a winery that is so special?

my wife and I love red wines, but I'm having trouble convincing her (and
myself, really) to take a day and drive to one. since you've been,
maybe you can help?
