there are no tourists in december. they all froze to death in november. When I first moved up here it was january 4th. It was -20. I got off the plane and went outside to smoke (i smoked at this time) and the cigarette froze to my lip and I had to rip it off. I started freaking about the stupid thing I had done - moving to alaska (I assumed it was always that cold) and starting freaking out at the couple from my plane that had also gone outside to smoke. Wearing shorts. They had just returned from hawaii. They looked at me like I had three heads and said "honey, you think this is cold? You haven't seen anything yet". I almost died.
