I just heard Newt Gingrich on NPR and, as usual, I agree with him on
fiscal policy.  We disagreee about most other things, but on money we
agree.

On Talk of The Nation he was asked how you stop the record lavish
public works spending that we can't afford.  His response was simple,
honest, and exactly right:


"I mean, hey, the President has to veto something.  If there's no veto
threat then the President is saying, 'it's a pork field day, it's open
season', so why shouldn't a Congressman go for everything he can get? 
It's up to the President."
