I've been thinking about this, and for all the crap surrounding it, I think that while the chance of meeting with El Arbusto himself is essentially nil, the message she's trying to send - the combination of her situation, where she is, what she's doing, and what she's asking - has the potential to be extraordinarily damaging, regardless of the outcome. Whether or not she's been in bed with Moore or Code Pink or other agitators is secondary to the fact that the message as a whole has the potential to be damning enough to get the Harrumph Brigades out on the air waves to discredit her.
There are plenty of mini-protests around the country and in DC that get no press aside from maybe some blog writeups and your standard press release. People and groups who participate in those can be easily lumped into the standard Left/Right Crazies standards and forgotten. However, this dust-up in Crawford, set against the backdrop of the President on a very long vacation, driving his pickup juxtaposed against the image of dead soldier's mother sitting outside waiting for an explanation... it's a slam-dunk. For all it's worth, the woman could claim that an alien named Xenu came to Earth 47 million years ago, strapped aliens to volcanoes and off atom bombs, and her level of crazy still wouldn't overshadow that core message, which seems to be sticking.
