But if you are going to try to stop proliferation and try to reduce the
nukes in the former Soviet Union etc... Isn't it hypocritical to start
new nuclear programs here in the US?

You do know where Khan gained his knowledge in nuclear technology, don't

No, he was a true believer and gave it away without remuneration.


Building nukes may be a logistical nightmare, especially if you want to
do it secretly, but is not technically challenging. It is a well proven
60 year old technology. Any industrial conglomerate from GE to
Matsushita has all the technology they need on the shelve. Trying to
prevent the proliferation of technical knowledge about making nukes is
pointless: it is already out there. It is being taught in any
undergraduate nuclear technology class.
