Fun in Berlin (where else?) ** Relaxen Und Watchen Das Blinkenlights
Renown German hacker group Chaos Computer Club has built what it calls the world's largest interactive computer display, using the entire face of a building to flash messages into the night. The project, called "Blinkenlights," involves 144 bright lights in the windows of the top eight stories of a downtown Berlin building. By turning the lights on and off, the building can display simple text messages, images, and animations. Tech-savvy Berliners can submit ideas for project images and messages via the Web. They can even call a phone number and play Pong on the screen, controlling the action with their cell phone's keypad. The 20-year-old club built Blinkenlights as a special present to the city of Berlin.
