Someone may have mentioned this already, Ray, but my email's a little 
wiggy today, so I might have missed it.  Anyway, take a look at Backpack 
(backpackit.com).  It's developed by the team that created the Ruby on 
Rails app server, and is an excellent example of a simple, 
straightforward AJAX application, to boot.
