I've noticed the same trend in everyone around me. And I mean everyone.

I personally think it is the pace and availability of news and
information today. Cell phone, email, tv, iPod, radio, subway,
traffic, shopping.

We as a society seldom have true "down time" anymore.

I force myself to unplug now at least 2 nights a week and do something
SLOW. I made paper the other week. I have been working on some art
projects. I restained a desk and chair. I did a puzzle. Slowly.

It has been helping me cope.

NOTE: I am single and live alone, so it is much easier for me to
escape my own life.
