In the United STates, it's not a generalization...it's a sad statistical 
fact. I haven't seen the numbers recently...but I know that traditionally, 
alcoholism has been disproportionately higher in native american communities 
than in statistically similar communites of other cultures.

Decrying the stats as "stereotyping" doesn't help the problem.

Again, this is in the US. I have no idea about indigenious Canadians.
