no, I don't think I did. I am not familiar with the detail of this
particular story but I have been down the
stupid-sorry-trying-stupid-sorry-trying rollercoaster and had to walk away.
With great regret, but it was the only way to save my own sanity at the
time. Or as I realized in a lightbulb moment -- you can take the drunk to
the AA meeting but you can't make him stay, or participate. If the drunk has
coaxed you out only a limb with him and insists on sawing it off, then it is
time to get out, sorry. Even if you have had the same sort of troubles
yourself - this does not mean that the other person is trying. I really
can't judge the man for what he did, at least not without knowing more.
