I was just about to send an email... I think I rocked them. :-D I told them straight off the bat that I didn't have a lot of experience administering IIS, but that was ok. My previous experience as a Windows Media Server support engineer came in very handy because both of these are similar products, at least as far as troubleshooting them. Put that together with my extensive ASP.NET experience, and I was golden.
The deal now is that the team that supports IIS and the team that supports ASP.NET is merging into one support team. They need someone that is proficient in both types of technology - as a network troubleshooter, which I got from WMS, and as a programmer as well. They posed some hypothetical problems, and I got all the way through two out of the three on my own. The third one I needed some help on, but I still think they were impressed. I think the manager liked me, she came in at the end and asked me all of the typical HR type questions. As I understand, you don't even get to that point unless you do well with the other two meetings. Anyway, I'm confident that I did well, and I am just waiting to hear from them. One of the good things I noticed was that they kept having to preventing saying things like "When YOU start..." instead of "When the person we hire starts..." Things like that kept me thinking that this was in the bag. Of course, it's not, but I want to stay positive. Also, I went in and saw the crowd that I used to work with, and my buddies in there are all putting in the good word for me with this manager. I bumped into my old manager before I went into the interview and he said he would go back and talk to her again about me. She told me that there were three face-to-face interviews, out of 12 phone screens. There's one tomorrow, so need to keep hoping that this works out the way I want it to. Of course, I don't think I'm going to have much time for the list if I get hired, but I'll try to stay in touch. Thanks for everyone's warm wishes.
