I could agree with what you are saying, except that the politicians/media/corporates have refined their art so well now that that can make the electorate jump through hoops - it's why we still have Blair in the UK as well.
It may surprise many of the people on this list but I don't think I've ever met an American I didn't like, and I don't hold Bush against them.
