Well, let's look at this from an Aussie perspective (which may well differ from the US club scene)...
Daft Punk's 2001 release, Discovery, dropped about a half-dozen good dance tracks on us which get play at most clubs. I like "One More Time", but I'm over it. Depeche Mode released their first new studio album in four years. "I Feel Loved" is the only track that gets time here. Gloria Estefan has always been something of an on-again, off-again artist here and gets limited airplay on Top 40 radio and not much else. I think she's very good, but the Latin music scene here is fringe at best. No self-respecting club mixer would play her. Janet Jackson. Cookie-cutter, plastic shite. 'nuf said. Lionel Richie. Excuse me? Who remembers the shame of the '84 Olympics Closing Ceremony? Get thee to a music shop and buy some Ministry of Sound mixes.
