Thank you Nick for your help! I got it. I just make the users initial remote directory in the FTP program the "/foldername" of the new virtual directory and its all good.
the root ftp folder is something empty and useless, and i block ftp from unknown ip's i think im good and secure and ready to open it up to clients! w00t! however, if you could clarify what i asked from your first email that would be cool, as i might still be doing something kludgy here... as im still not 100% sure where im supps to be setting permissions... do i do it on the virtual directory? or do i do it on the actual folder? im thinking that i need to do it on the virt. dir. as thats what ive done, and its working great :) thanks man. tw On 1/15/06, Tony <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I get the Virtual Directory idea... that makes sense. > Now, what does confuse me is... when you mention "With their > username" I really didnt see that option when making the Virtual Directory. > > Do you mean, go into the user, and make their home or starting folder > that virtual dir? > > im almost there. > > thanks. > tony > > > > > On 1/15/06, Nick McClure <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Yeah, the easy way is to do this: > > > > In IIS for each user create a virtual directory with their username and > > point it to their folder.
