Funny you should ask ... I did basically the same thing. The Santa Fe
is nice in that if it freezes up, it will auto shut down and defrost
before starting back up again. I ran it in 40^ and it did get a good
layer of frost on it but it didn't seem to affect the operation - or
at least I couldn't tell by watching the humidity.

After watching this a few times I just stopped watching and let 'er
run. It's always worked fine so I don't even check anymore.

One thing I did however is route some of the warm outlet air into the
space it sits in and that seems to keep it plenty warm now. (I just
put a "t" pipe in the ducting and leave the flue closed. There's a
gap that let's enough air out) You could also try to vent some furnace
air into the space for wintertime. It shouldn't take much if the
space is small.

About the $1250: that was including shipping. It comes on a pallet
via semi-truck so you'll want to be home and ready to at least get it
into the garage. Off the crate it weighs about 100 lbs and so I
carried it down myself, but I wouldn't recommend that - I got lucky I
didn't lose a toe! That fecker is heavy. Although it rolls around
real easy.

BTW - even in the winter it still is draining water!
