Actually no, you can buy a very well specified and built cycle for
much less than they used to be in the UK, the same is true of clothing
and a lot of other stuff.

The people getting stuffed are the ones who are losing their jobs to
overseas manufacturers, and the people employed for pitiful wages by
those overseas manufacturers. The rationale seems to be that we in the
west have a right to cheap goods at the expense of other countries,
which is something I personally have a lot of ethical problems with.
