my primary exposure to interaction between "liberals" and "fundamentalists" is in the context of homeschooling, but I find it is a little more complicated than that. Blind hostility against Christians such as Larry occasionally expresses is rather rare, and tends to focus on specific behavors seen as close-minded, such as demands for statements of faith. However, I am not sure how typical this is.
