According to my Apple certified pBook/iBook technician in the next
room, no CMOS or PRAM battery on an iBook.

Does this happen every time, or just when shut down without being
plugged in? Does the main battery work? I know that if you eject the
main battery from iBooks and pBooks, they lose date and time.
